Benefits/cost-transparency platform helping employers and members make more informed healthcare choices.
Yura Health is a healthtech benefits platform (insurance cost transparency and member education).
Problem: Patients and employers needed clear cost information for medical procedures, but existing systems were opaque. Yura wanted users to see exact out-of-pocket costs for procedures given their insurance.
Solution: Horizon Labs built a cost-transparency engine:
- Frontend form to input user insurance details.
- Integrated National Provider Identifier (NPI) database and publicly available pricing data (machine-readable formats).
- Backend logic to calculate deductibles, co-pays, and final patient cost.
- UI to search for doctors/procedures and display prices.
Outcome: We launched an initial prototype in the DC area. Employees and patients can now compare procedure prices (as with Kaiser’s style) before booking. Dan Lee (Yura CEO) praised our “fast turnaround” and responsive sprints. The platform improved transparency and user confidence.
Tech Stack: React frontend, Python backend, federal NPI and pricing data integration.
