Rarewaters

RareWaters is a fly-fishing marketplace offering exclusive access to private waters and related outdoor activities. It was acquired by InfiniteOutdoorsUSA in 2024.

Problem: RareWaters’ existing WordPress site could not scale to handle complex marketplace features (season passes, dynamic pricing, etc.). The team needed a more robust platform with custom pricing and pass management to grow the business.

Solution: Horizon Labs performed a full migration to Sharetribe in under 3 months. We built all required marketplace features, including:

• Season Pass System: Custom 4-Rod, Unlimited, and other pass options.
• Gift Card Platform: Issuing and redeeming.
• Variable Pricing: Per-listing pricing (daily, monthly, yearly) with one-click management.
• Admin Control Panel: Flexible pricing adjustments, listing approvals, and guide-feature toggles.
• Discount Codes & Reviews: Promotional codes and a custom review system for listings.

Outcome: The new marketplace launched successfully. RareWaters was acquired by InfiniteOutdoorsUSA later in 2024. Traffic soared – RareWaters became the #1 Google result in its niche. The map and listing features we built were reused on the InfiniteOutdoorsUSA site.

Features Implemented: Season passes, gift cards, advanced listing filters (camping, lodging, water access, etc.), review/bookmark systems, and complete data migration.
