Across many builds, deployment automation is a recurring pain: every product needs reliable pipelines, environment management, and reproducible infrastructure. Rapic was an internal initiative to productize that repeat work into a SaaS tool developers could reuse.

Problem: The goal was to reduce DevOps overhead by creating a system that:

• Connects directly to GitHub repositories
• Automates deployment to hosting platforms
• Uses modern containerization/orchestration so deployments are reproducible and scalable
• Is simple enough that teams don’t need custom DevOps work for every project

Solution: Horizon Labs designed and built a deployment automation platform that:

• Integrates with GitHub as the source of truth
• Containerizes applications with Docker
• Orchestrates deployments with Kubernetes
• Runs on AWS infrastructure
• Shipped an MVP in ~3 months, then incorporated feedback and iterations for ~6 months

Impact:

• MVP successfully launched, validating feasibility of a reusable deployment automation tool
• Demonstrated a repeatable approach to reducing deployment friction across projects
• Served as a strong internal proof point in DevOps automation (even though it did not reach the traction/funding threshold to continue)
